Chief Executive Officer
Gavin Becker

Gavin Becker was appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer on 29 July 2011. 

Gavin holds a Bachelor of Science (Engineering) Honours degree in Metallurgy from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College, at London University and is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining & Metallurgy. He also holds a Masters of Business Administration (Bond University) and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

His expertise includes recent key executive and project development positions, most recently as Business Leader – Mining & Metals with the internationally diversified, Australian-based GHD consulting engineering group, and previously as General Manager with Gladstone Pacific Nickel.

Previously Gavin held senior project management and operational roles with Dominion Mining Ltd, WMC Resources (including Kwinana Nickel Refinery and Kambalda Nickel Operations), and Anglo American/ZCCM in Zambia. He also has a significant Research & Development background, having been intimately involved with the development of the Carbon-In-Pulp (C-I-P) process during his time with Mintek in South Africa, 1976-79.

Process Manager
Kevin Pery

Kevin Pery was appointed to the position of Process Manager on 30 August 2011. 

Kevin has approximately 20 years experience in the mining and minerals processing industry, including 17 years at QNI Refinery performing senior leadership roles in Technical Development, Major Project Implementation and Operations Management. He has developed projects from concept, through prefeasibility and feasibility, design, fabrication and construction. A major focus has been on risk minimisation and stakeholder involvement to deliver a fully functional plant meeting all design criteria. Strong safety leadership through all phases resulted in excellent outcomes for all workgroups.

Most recently Kevin managed contract crushing and screening plants for numerous Tier 1 clients which provided good knowledge and experience in developing and establishing projects in remote and challenging environments.

Site Manager
Bill Stacey

Bill Stacey was appointed to the position of Site Manager for the NORNICO Project on 3 October 2011.

Bill has operated a family owned mine for over 20 years which has a history of operation for 45 years in the Marlborough region. He has built a reputation for being able to effectively mine and rehabilitate mined areas to natural land forms acceptable to Government regulations.

Bill was closely involved with the development of the Marlborough Nickel Project from the mid 1990's prior to becoming becoming Gladstone Pacific Nickel's senior respresentative in 2006 a position which he has held until commencing with Metallia Minerals.

Bill has extensive management experience in mining as well as Native Title and Cultural Heritage, Government Relations, Tenement Management and Procurement.

Geology Manager
Michael Tyndall

Michael Tyndall was appointed to the position of Geology Manager in October 2011.

Michael has 20 years of combined experience as a geologist in marine and terrestrial diamond exploration and production, gold mining and corporate services consulting.
Michael has held senior positions with Anglo American Corporation, De Beers Prospecting Botswana, Benguela Concessions, Trans Hex Group and Anglogold Ashanti. 
Michael’s consulting career in the minerals industry started in 2006 as a Minerals Industry Advisor for Venmyn Rand. In 2009 he relocated to Australia as a Principal Consultant with Snowden Mining Industry Consultants in their Corporate Services Division and later to Xstract Mining Consultants in Brisbane. Michael’s key expertise in these roles was mineral project feasibility, technical due diligence studies, technical reporting and mineral asset valuations. He managed the compilation and preparation of techno-economic reports for a variety of commodities and mineral assets, primarily for stock exchange listings and project capital funding.
Michael holds a BSc (Honours) degree and Graduate Diploma in Mining Engineering. Michael is a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions.
Tenement Manager
Laura Wood

Laura Wood was appointed to the position of Tenement Manager in September 2006.

Laura has been active in the Queensland mining and exploration industry for 25 years, working for the Queensland Department of Mines in various tenement roles until becoming Tenement Manager for The Metallica Minerals Group of companies in September 2006.

During this time, Laura has developed in depth skills and experience in Tenement Management. She has specialist experience in project maintenance; tenement administration; government agencies, landholder and native title liaison; and public and private company dealings.
